NYC Bagpipes Piper Gets 1st Place Award

NYC Bagpipes' Cristopher Rodriguez earned 1st place overall at the 8th Annual Covenanter Scottish Festival and Highland Games in Grade 2 solo bagpiping. The annual competition was held in Quarryville, Pennsylvania on September 11th, 2021. The competition had 5 events for Grade 2, including 2/4 March, Strathspey/Reel, 6/8 March, Piobaireachd, and Hornpipe/Jig. Cristopher earned 1st place in the 2/4 March and Hornpipe/Jig events; he also earned 2nd place in the 6/8 March and Piobaireachd events. The competition has become well known for its signature bobble head bagpipe trophy.

The event followed a week after his performance with the Sean McGonigal Memorial Pipe Band's 1st place victory for Grade 4 Pipe Band at the Capital District Games on September 4th. He will be playing again with the band on September 25th at the annual Celtic Classic, held in Bethleham, Pennsylvania.
