First Bagpipe Competition Outing in NE Earns Awards

Cristopher Rodriguez was awarded several first prizes at the Rose and Shamrock Festival solo bagpipe competition in Lancaster, PA on Saturday, February 8th, 2025.  He was awarded first place in the Hornpipe/Jig, Piobaireachd, and 2/4 March events. He submitted several news tunes at the competition, including Dolina MacKay, The Balkan Hills, and Lament for Patrick Og MacCrimmon.

Although this is the first EUSPBA (Eastern United States Pipe Band Association) competition of the 2025 season in the Northeast, Cristopher competed in another association where he was awarded 1st place in the Grade 2 piobaireachd event at the prestigious Winter Storm championship.

Continuing with his success in piobaireachd, he is looking forward to playing Patrick Og MacCrimmon in the 2025 season, which is considered a very high level piobaireachd.

Aside from solo competing, Cristopher Rodriguez will also be competing as a band player with the St. Columcille Pipe Band (Kearney, NJ) in the 2025 season. He also teaches bagpipes in the New York City metro area and professionally plays at various gigs. He is getting ready for a busy for a St. Patrick’s season. His website is nycbagpipes.com.
